How to Stay Upright on a Bike While Stopped
- 1). Slow rapidly using both your front and back breaks as you come to a stop.
- 2). Release the rear brake when you're almost stopped.
- 3). Stand on the pedals and level them. Both pedals should be parallel to the street.
- 4). Turn the front wheel slightly to one side.
- 5). Push the pedals slightly forward, enough to move the bike an inch or two.
- 6). Release the front brake slightly as you begin to lose your balance, and roll back the same distance.
- 7). Repeat until you can proceed.
