How to Pick a Medicare Insurance Plan
- 1). List your income and monthly expenses to determine how much you can afford to pay in monthly premiums and annual deductibles. Write the amount down for reference.
- 2). Visit Medicare.gov and click the "Health and Drug Plans" icon. Click "Compare Drug and Health Plans" on the menu that pops up.
- 3). Type your ZIP code, name, date of birth and Medicare number and effective date to receive personalized plan information. Enter your ZIP code by itself if you just want general plan information. Click "Find Plans."
- 4). Provide information about any current health insurance and medications you are taking on the next pages. Click "Continue to Plan Results."
- 5). Compare coverage types, co-pays, yearly deductible amounts and monthly premium payments for all plans. Choose the plan that fits your financial and medical needs and click "Enroll."
- 6). Complete the plan's application and wait two to four weeks for the provider to send your notice of enrollment.
