How to Jump Start Metabolism Naturally with Food
- 1). Change your daily meal pattern. The best way to eat is to have six small meals that are almost like large snacks as opposed to only two or three larger meals. Never skip breakfast, as that meal kicks off your metabolism. Have a snack every 3 1/2 to 4 hours, if possible. Breakfast should be your largest meal of the day.
- 2). Spice up your foods. Preferably, you want to spice up every food that will take it. Cayenne pepper and Tabasco sauce have been shown to boost metabolism by up to 25 percent in some people, according to a University of Chicago study. Cinnamon (without added sugar), ginger, cumin, black pepper and turmeric are all spices that have also shown to be helpful in boosting metabolism.
- 3). Add green tea and coffee into your diet as drinks of choice. Green tea is the best, and may be one of the healthiest drinks in the world. Coffee is good in small doses, but you don't want to go over two or three cups a day.
- 4). Incorporate the following foods into as many meals as possible: grapefruit, spinach, apples, yogurt, turkey, jalapeno peppers, soy milk, and beans. All of these foods have multiple benefits and can easily be fit into small meals or snacks.
