The Central Florida Marine Corps Foundation is a non-profit organization designed for veterans of the United States military. ROTC cadets and the spouses and children of military veterans are also permitted to join. The foundation provides scholarships for colleges, helps wounded veterans and their families, gives to charitable organizations and provides funding for the local Marine Corps Ball. To join the organization, one has to meet three requirements. - The application for the Central Florida Marine Corps Foundation can be mailed to the interested applicant or there is an application online (see "Resources"). The application will ask about your military service and what branch of the military your served in. Even though the name of the organization proposes a Marine Corps base, veterans of other branches may apply. If you are a veteran, the application will ask for the length of time you were in the service and whether you were honorably discharged. It would be wise to send a copy of your DD 214 with your application so that your military service can be verified. If you are a spouse or child of a veteran, a copy of your husband or father's DD 214 will be adequate for proof.
- There is a requested $10 donation that goes with the application, but this is voluntary and can be waived. The donations from the application process are paired with the majority of the funds raised during the Central Florida Marine Corps Foundation golf tournament that is held every April. The annual Marine Corps Ball is another event that brings in a large portion of the proceeds. Corporate table at this event go for $1000 a table. From this amount $250 goes to offset the costs of the Orlando Junior Enlisted Marines. This event is sponsored on November 11 of each year, which is also a day the commemorates the Marine Corps Birthday. Dancing, dining and a cake-cutting ceremony are part of the event. Application donations, the golf tournament and the Marine Corps Ball brings in the majority of money for the organizations philanthropic service.
- The Central Florida Marine Corps Foundation offers $10,000 worth of scholarships to undergraduates each year. The scholarships range from $500 to $2500, and the recipients will be notified by mail once their application is chosen. To apply for scholarships, the student must provide transcripts from high school and any college courses taken, an application, an essay, standardized test scores and two letters of recommendation. Students who are eligible for the scholarships must be a resident of Volusia County, Brevard County, Lake County, Orange County, Seminole County or Polk Country. The chances for the scholarship increase if the student is a veteran, spouse of a veteran or child of a veteran.
