How to Install a Borla Exhaust in a Corvette
- 1). Park your Corvette on a vehicle lift and allow the engine to cool.
- 2). Locate the two clamps holding the exhaust together at the rear of the vehicle. These are located just under the transmission. Remove these clamps using a ratchet and socket. Set the clamps aside.
- 3). Locate the spring hangers next to the clamps that were previously removed. Loosen and remove the 13 mm bolts using a ratchet and socket. Set these bolts aside.
- 4). Remove the bolts holding the two flanges using a ratchet and a 15 mm socket.. They are located right behind the two catalytic converters on the exhaust pipe.
- 5). Remove the stock exhaust system from the hangers on the frame by pulling them off with your hands. Start removing the exhaust parts that are closest to the engine.
- 6). Continue until the stock exhaust is completely removed. Slide the two mufflers off the hangers with your hands.
- 1). Slide the stock clamps onto the Borla inlet pipe. The inlet pipes are the rounded pipes that are connected to the mufflers.
- 2). Slide the over-axle parts into the exhaust-exit opening on the rear of your Corvette. Slide the new muffler hangers into the rubber isolators located on the vehicle.
- 3). Install the exhaust-pipe sections that go over the axle into the inlet pipes. Hand-tighten the clamp with your hand.
- 4). Confirm that your new exhaust system is aligned correctly. Make sure that the new exhaust is not making contact with any other part of the vehicle. Tighten each clamp using a ratchet and socket. Start tightening the bolts at the the front of the vehicle and work your way to the rear.
- 5). Start your Corvette and confirm there are no leaks.
