How to Transfer Money to a Foreign Account
- 1). Check the requirements for foreign wire transfers from the company you wish to use. Most companies will require the name and bank account information for the recipient. You'll also find that companies charge different fees for this service, so you may want to compare the costs between several companies. Additionally, some may require you to use cash for the transfer, while others will simply withdraw the money from your own account. Make sure you understand the requirements before visiting the company.
- 2). Ask the recipient for her bank information. You may need to know her full name, address, bank name and address, bank number and account number. Without this information, the company may not be able to process your request or it may end up in the wrong hands.
- 3). Initiate the transfer. If you are doing the transfer from a bank, you'll have to visit the bank in person. Companies like Western Union allow you to transfer money online. You'll have to fill out an application form stating how much money you want to transfer, either in U.S. dollars or in the currency where you're transferring the money to.
- 4). Pay the wire transfer fee. This should be around $50.
