How to Create a Rusty Background in Photoshop
- 1). Open Photoshop. Select "File" and choose "New." In the dialog that appears, make the size what you want for your texture. If it is going to be used for a desktop or a web page background, a typical size is 1024x768. If the texture is for a 3D model, the most commonly used sizes are 1024x1024 or 512x512. Click "OK."
- 2). Change the "Foreground" color to brown and the "Background" color to a dark green. Select "Filters" from the menu and choose "Render." From the options, choose "Render Clouds."
- 3). Select "Filter" and choose "Texture." From the options, choose "Grain." In the dialog that appears, make the "Intensity" and "Contrast" 60 and the "Grain Type" "Speckle." Click "OK."
- 4). Select "Filter" and choose "Sharpen." From the options, choose "Unsharp." In the dialog that appears, make the "Amount" 400, the "Radius" 4 and the "Threshold" 25. Click "OK."
- 5). Select "Filter" and choose "Artistic." from the options, choose "Dry Brush." In the dialog, make the "Brush Size" 1, the "Detail" 3 and the "Texture" 2. Click "OK."
- 6). Select "File" and choose "Save." In the dialog that appears, name your file and save it.
