Never Disappoint over an Interview Rejection

12
When going through the job interviewing process it can sometimes feel like a personal rejection when you are passed over for a position. Ironically, this feeling resonates with anyone who was ever rejected for a date, prom, or by a significant other. You take it personally. Interviewing is a personal experience because you let it all out there. You let the interviewers know exactly what you stand for and what you've done with your life; and at the end of the day you are left praying they'll like you enough to say €Yes, you're the one€.

As I gain new strength to carry on
Without a doubt or fear,
Somehow I know things will be right,
And so, I persevere.
-Anne Stortz

Sometimes finding a job can feel like you're looking for that perfect someone that makes you happy. You don't want to settle for a mediocre position that leaves you wondering if you can do better every evening when you get home. You want a job that stimulates you and highlights the best qualities of your character. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Especially since the average professional spends more time in the office than with their family during the work week- you should love what you do with 70% of your waking hours!

So keep in mind that when push comes to shove and a specific position that you were dying to have went to someone else, it was most likely for the better. You can think that you were perfect for the position and had all the criteria the employer was asking for, but it could simply be that your personality wasn't the right fit with the rest of the co-workers. Just like your rejections in your youth, you simply can't take it personally when you are passed over for someone else. Who wants to be in a position that isn't the absolute perfect fit for them? It will prevent you from being at your utmost happiest. So keep looking and don't get discouraged because for all you know your dream job can be right around the corner.
