You are having a little bit of trouble figuring out how you obtain a marriage license in Maine.
Well there are a few roads you must cross.
Do not worry though that is why I am here.
Below I have outlined the latest laws and regulations for applying and obtaining a marriage license in the state of Maine.
You must have a government issued picture identification, certified birth certificate.
You should also have your social security card and know your parents maiden names.
The couple must appear together when applying for a marriage license.
If the couple both reside in the state of Maine, in the same municipality they need to apply with their municipal clerk.
If both persons reside in the State of Maine, in separate municipalities, they must file with at least ONE municipal clerk, they do not need to file with both.
Their are no waiting periods.
If you have been married before you must supply proof that the marriage ended.
You must have either a divorce decree or death certificate.
The fees are $20.

This charge does not include the cost of a certified copy of the marriage certificate after the marriage is solemnized.
Their are blood test requirements.
If you are 16-17 you must have written consent that is notarized.
If you are under the age of 16 you must have written consent from parents and consent from a judge.
Cousins may marry, however you must take a genetic counseling course and receive a certificate.
As of July 1, 1981 the Secretary of State's Office no longer requires a license be issued for ministers of the gospel for the purpose of solemnizing marriages in Maine.
The following persons can perform marriage in the state of Maine judge, a lawyer admitted to the Maine bar, A notary public under Title 4, chapter 19, An ordained minister of the gospel, A clerick engaged in the service of the religious body to which the cleric belongs and A person licensed to preach by an association of ministers, religious seminary or ecclesiastical body.
The license is valid for 90 days and only in the state of Maine.
