How to Install an In Dash DVD
- 1). Disconnect the car's negative battery cable to disable the power, loosening the cable clamp nut with a wrench. Disconnecting the positive cable also is a good extra precaution, but always disconnect the negative one first.
- 2). Pry off all trim panels or bezels that cover the car's stereo unit in the dashboard. This usually requires a trim stick, and you may need to remove multiple panels depending on the model.
- 3). Unscrew the mounting fasteners for the stereo. They can require a standard wrench, screwdriver or possibly an allen/torx wrench. Remove the unit from the dashboard, unplugging the connectors in the back of the unit.
- 4). Connect the wiring harness adapter to the stereo electrical connector.
- 5). Install the DVD player into the mounting bracket that is designed for your make and model vehicle. Install the unit, connecting the electrical connector and adapter to the unit, within the dashboard and reconnect the trim panels.
- 6). Reconnect the battery. If you disconnected both cables, connect the positive cable first and the negative one second.
