How to Play Rock Songs on a Guitar
- 1). Choose the song that you want to play. If you have a favorite rock band, you can purchase a music book that features songs from that particular artist. Music books can be purchased at your local musical instrument store or you can find the music to specific songs on-line. If you are a beginner it is advised to start with a simple song to avoid discouragement.
- 2). Practice the song on your guitar. Whether you are planning on playing with a band or solo, you will need to practice playing the music to execute it correctly. Some musicians prefer to practice alone and others prefer to practice with their band or other guitar players working on the same song. Some songs and playing techniques will require the use of a guitar pick while others you can play with your fingers. The use of a guitar pick is often a preference of the musician.
- 3). Perform the rock song that you have learned and perfected. If you are not in a band and learning the song for your personal satisfaction it might be nice to show off to family and friends at a small gathering. If you are in a band, you and your fellow band mates can book a gig at an event or establishment to show off your playing skills and the rock songs you have learned or written.
