How to Repair a Mattress Pad
- 1). Turn the pad wrong side out.
- 2). Resew the seam along the original seam line.
- 3). Finish the seam allowance by zigzag stitching along the edge of the fabric.
- 1). Pull the bias binding out of the way and pull the edges of the fabric together. Resew the seam along the original seam line. A bias binding is a folded strip of fabric that is used to cover seam allowances.
- 2). Fold the bias binding back over the seam. The fold on one side of the binding is formed by folding the strip in half. The folds on the other edge are made by folding in the raw edges on the sides of the strip. The edge of the seam allowance should be inside the binding touching the center fold.
- 3). Sew the binding in place by stitching along the original seam line, close to the two folded edges, with a straight stitch. Catch both sides of the binding in the seam.
- 1). Pin the edges of the fabric together, overlapping the edges 1/4 inch.
- 2). Sew along the overlapped edges with a wide zigzag stitch.
- 3). Sew 1/4 inch into the fabric beyond each end of the tear.
