Not too many months ago I asked myself this question: "why blog?"  I mean, I had no idea what one was (really) and didn't think that I needed one at all.
  So I did a little bit of homework and found out that a blog can be a girl's (or boy's) best-friend.
Before I get into the nitty-gritty of how you can use your blogs to promote yourself, I want to just remind you that your blog should be your passion!  It should be something that you WANT to do in order to share your knowledge about a certain subject.
  So sit down, take a piece of paper, and at the top write why blog...
Then think about why you want to do it and what you want to blog about.
For me, having a blog is a creative output that brings me a sense of purpose..
and I truly enjoy it.
  Blogging has helped me define my area of expertise much clearer and my posts are becoming more and more content rich as I grow with my blog.
Why Blog

1. To Brand Yourself
2. When you start blogging people will be able to see who you are, what you stand for, how much knowledge you have and so forth.
     This is NOT easily done without a blog.
   
3. Social Media Marketing
4. There are tons of Social Media sites out there that can drive traffic to your blog like it's nobody's business.
     Think Digg, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook (to name a few).
     A lot of blog themes have the option to add all (or most) of these social media icons in your sidebar (big BONUS!!).
   
5. You Are An Expert
6. A well written blog that sticks to one or two subjects will position you as an expert in your field.
     The more you write, the more people read and realize how much you know.
     They will continue to visit your site to see your latest posts and what you have to say.
     When you "talk", they will pay attention.
   
7. Low Cost
8. Setting up a blog costs way less than you think and maintaining it costs NOTHING if you've set it up right.
     What better way to get attention and traffic to YOU without having to spend thousands on TV, Newspaper, or Commercial Ads??
9. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
10. This basically means that Google LOVES new blogs that create new content on a regular basis.
      For the first few times you blog, you won't rank very high on Google, but as you continue to contribute to your blog you will be ranked higher and higher on Google.
      Not to mention, using a good keyword is a MUST.
      So why blog...
    ??  Easy!  To drive traffic to YOU!!

Why Blog...
(again) Well, when you get good enough at it, you will be able to capitalize on the amount of traffic your blog is receiving and make MONEY off of it.
  For now though, let's just keep to the basics and we'll deal with the money part later.
