How to Make Your Own Belly Bands
- 1). Lay your top that you would like to convert into a belly band onto your work surface. Flatten out any wrinkles in the fabric.
- 2). Place your ruler along the side of your shirt, and measure 12-inches from the bottom hem. Mark the measurement with your pencil.
- 3). Move the ruler one-inch toward the center of the shirt, and measure and mark 12-inches from the bottom hem at this location. Continue moving the ruler and marking measurements, until you have reached the other side of the shirt.
- 4). Place your ruler across the marks that you have measured, and draw a line across the marks. Insert sewing pins along the drawn line.
- 5). Cut along the line you drew in step 4, creating a tube of fabric from the bottom portion of the shirt. Then, remove the pins and wear your belly band as desired.
