Kitchen Photo Ideas
- When decorating your kitchen, consider hanging photographs on the wall.the kitchen. image by guiney from Fotolia.com
While some people may not think of the kitchen as a place to hang photographs, there's no reason a picture or two can't be placed on the walls to add a decorative touch to the room. Even though wall space may be limited, with the right planning, little photographs can have a big impact on the room. As with any room, your personality should shine through in the décor. If you enjoy taking pictures, you may want to use your own. Photographs can also be found in craft stores, online and in home decorating stores, if you aren't handy with the camera. - Here is an example of this type of picture.apples image by Maria Brzostowska from Fotolia.com
For those who enjoy photography, try this assignment: Take your camera to the produce section of your local grocery store or farmers' market. Notice how artfully arranged some sections seem to be, such as piles of apples, oranges, onions and lettuce. Choose types of produce and photograph the sections close up. Make sure to be close enough so only the shapes of the items are visible, yet far enough away that you can tell what the items are. The vivid colors and rich textures of fruits and vegetables contribute to a distinctive, food-themed photograph collection and are sure to get guests of your home talking. Print the photographs on high-quality photo paper and hang in a black frame with white matting to make the colors stand out. This is a great option for people who rent and are unable to paint their kitchen walls, but still want a splash of color. - Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, points out that warm colors such as reds, yellows and apricots tend to be popular in kitchens because of their appetite-stimulating effects. These colors are a great way to add some life to a dull kitchen and contrast the common appliance colors of black, white or silver. Hanging vividly colored photographs on a bright colored wall has the potential to clash. However, if you hang black-and-white photographs in a black frame with white matting, this can be avoided. Black-and-white pictures on a colorful wall can help to offset the brightness, especially if the wall space is considerable.
- If your family is always cooking or baking together, hire a professional photographer to do a photo shoot in your kitchen over a few sessions as you make a meal together. Ask them to take shots from a variety of angles for a more artistic effect. For some, the option of a professional may be too expensive. Taking these shots on your own should not be too difficult for those with basic camera skills. The prints from these photo sessions can be framed and hung on your kitchen walls for a warm reminder of the activity you share together.
