Treatments For Yeast Infection Reviewed

17
There are four treatments for yeast infection that you could consider; prescription, non-prescription, home remedies, and, a completely natural regime.
Which to choose will generally depend on your individual circumstances.
For example, the infection's location, severity, first infection, recurring infection, pregnancy, etc.
75% of women have a yeast infection at least once in their life.
The vast majority seek treatment through their doctor (prescription), or, over-the-counter (non-prescription).
Of those 75%, around 50% will have at least 2 infections during their life, and, many of these will have many more.
In other words nearly all women will have to look for treatments for yeast infection at some point in their lives.
Prescription medication usually takes the form of creams, suppositories, ovules and pills.
They can contain either nystatin, terconazole, or, butoconazole.
Nystatin is usually a 14 day treatment, terconazole a 3 or 6 day treatment, while butoconazole is a single dose treatment.
These work well for the majority of women, especially those with their first yeast infection.
Non-prescription medication include myconazole and clotrimazole and can be bought over-the-counter.
They normally come in 1, 3, 6 and 7 day treatments.
The shorter treatments are usually more powerful, having higher doses of medication.
It has been found, though, that the efficacy is the same no matter which treatment length you choose.
Remember to talk to your doctor, or, pharmacist before starting on non-prescription medication, he / she will advise on the best one for you.
Home treatments for yeast infection are becoming very popular.
Some of the most popular use yogurt, curds, honey, garlic and cranberries.
Natural, unsweetened yogurt can be applied to the area, or, via a tampon dipped in it.
Curds are used in the same way, and, drink 2 classes of buttermilk a day.
Coat honey over the infected area then gently wash off after 20 minutes.
You can eat more garlic as part of your diet , or, make up a tampon by wrapping a peeled clove in cheesecloth.
And cranberries are very good for lowering your urine's ph levels; eat more cranberries, or, get them in pill form.
Many women are turning to completely natural treatments for yeast infection.
There are varying reasons for this.
Many are in that band of women who suffer recurring yeast infections that their other treatments seem not to have cured.
Others because they don't like the side effects that their other treatments sometimes exhibit.
Whatever the reason, this form of treatment is being used by ever increasing numbers of women (and men).
The core of this type of treatment is that it is drug-free.
And it takes into account diet, health and lifestyle which are known to be critical areas in curing yeast infection, and, maintaining yourself yeast-infection-free.
There are many natural programs available to download over the internet, but one of the most popular, if not the most popular, is a programme developed by Sarah Summer, a health researcher, editor, and, former yeast infection sufferer herself.
She researched and developed a fast, completely natural cure for her own infection that was so successful that she now shares her secrets with women all over the world.
