Hindu Astrology or Vedic Astrology or Indian Astrology or Bhartia Jyotish
Hindu Astrology is an ancient system of Astronomy and Astrology. It has three branches:
(a) Mundane Astrology:
This branch of Hindu Astrology deals with events related to Geographical areas like war, earth quakes, political events, financial and market related changes.
(b) Electional Astrology:
This part of Indian Astrology deals with mahurata or selection of the time for doing a particular work so that the success is guaranteed.
Indian Astrology are the modern names of Jyotish. Its Sanskrit meaning is the Science that shows light. The term Jyotish is used in Mundaka Upanishad. Jyotish was considered as Vedanga or one of the six auxiliary disciplines of Vedas.

Planets that are further to Saturn like Neptune, Uranus, Pluto are not considered as relevant as they are too far show to show any results. There are no studies and what ever is said about these planets has no empirical or textual base.

The Zodiac is divided into 12 zodiac signs namely Mesha (Aries), Vrisha (Taurus), Mithuna (Gemini), Karka (Cancer), Simha (Leo), Kanya (Virgo), Tula (Libra), Vrischika (Scorpio), Dhanu (Sagittarius), Makar (Capricorn), Kumbha (Aquarius) and Meena (Pisces)

Dasha is the period or sub period of a planet. There are several dasha systems but the most popular due to its accurate results is Vimshottari Dasha.
This is the most unique aspect of Indian Astrology.
