How to Change the Blade on a Band Saw
- 1). Turn the machine off and unplug it. You want to be sure the saw has no power while you're working around the blade.
- 2). Lift the saw head to its vertical position for easier access to the blade. Use your screwdriver to remove the wheel covers. Set the screws aside, as you'll need them to replace the covers.
- 3). Locate the tension knob and turn it counterclockwise to release tension on the band. Keep turning the knob until the blade detaches from the machine. Set the blade aside for cleaning, repair or proper disposal.
- 4). Align the new band inside the guide bearings, ensuring the teeth are slanted in the direction of the motor. Wrap the band around the pulley.
- 5). Turn the tension knob clockwise to tighten the blade. Replace the cover and screw it tight to the machine.
- 6). Plug in the electrical cord and turn the machine on.
