Sam Moore - Overnight Sensational
You don't attract A-list artists from multiple genres to record with you on a new album unless you're an A-list artist yourself.
Sam Moore got his chops as the lead vocalist of the soul duo Sam and Dave in the 60s and 70s. Such was his influence that he eventually came to be known by the title of one of his many hits, "Soul Man."
The upcoming release of Sam Moore: Overnight Sensational features collaborations with a lengthy A-list of classic rock artists, but they are by no means his first.
In recent years he has performed with the likes of Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt, John Fogerty, Elvis Costello, Phil Collins and Bruce Springsteen at venues ranging from the Apollo Theater to the Ryman Auditorium. He recorded "Soul Man" with Lou Reed for the soundtrack of the movie named after the song.
Moore's latest collaborative effort -- and his first new album in almost 25 years -- finds him paired with artists from the usual array of genres: rock (classic and contemporary), country, pop, r&b, gospel.
Randy Jackson -- who was a musician and record producer long before becoming an American Idol judge -- produced the album.
