• The health care administrator position generally requires certification from one of the national associations for health care professionals. Both the American Health Information Management Association and the American College of Health Care Administration provide certification and a code of ethics for their members.

• Health care administrators must maintain competence through continuing education, strive to advance professional knowledge and represent their education, certification and experience accurately.
  
  

Unethical Acts

• Health care administrators must not only avoid participating in any unethical act, but must not conceal or support the unethical acts of others.
