12
Have you been following a new diet which was great for the first few weeks, but then soon after the results quickly seem to slow down and stop? If this has happened to you then Im afraid to say that you have probably picked one of the many diets that is created to just give you an instant weight loss, which unfortunately is more often than not is also temporary.

On these types of diet you will lose weight very quickly for the first few weeks, then you will suddenly discover that you weight loss has stopped and you just can't progress any further. This is known as a weight loss plateau! When you have hit a plateau, the only way to get through it is to have a complete overhaul, your current regime is obviously not working for you.

If you've been doing the same exercises, for the same amount of reps, and you've been eating the same foods over and over during those first few successful weeks when you were losing weight. As a result your body may have become accustomed to your diet and exercise, and as soon as this happens your current method has failed, and you will find it impossible to get anymore positive results.

To progress further in your weight loss you must make a change to your diet and exercise. You must ensure that you make the right changes though, otherwise you will find yourself back in the same situation within weeks!

Here are two fool proof methods that you can apply to break through a fat loss plateau.

1. Avoid Starvation diets: Any diet which tells you to dramatically reduce your calorie intake is destined to fail. If you drop your calories intake to low, your body has no incentive to increase its metabolic rate, since there are many calories flowing through your system, the result you metabolic rate will stay at a low level. When your metabolic rate is low, you body won't be able to burn fat!

To burn fat you need to keep your metabolic rate at a high level to successfully lose weight. A great method for increasing your metabolism is not to starve yourself, but to actually eat more often. Splitting your daily calories into five or six meals rather than two or three, will mean that your body is digesting more through the day and will raise your metabolic rate. It will also help you with portion control.

2. Get more exercise!: If you haven't been exercising at all, or you have only been doing a small amount of exercise, then you need to kick it up a notch! You may have noticed that I have been telling you how starving yourself will not help you to successfully lose weight, the real key is to burn off the weight via exercise. A great exercise technique which will quickly start to melt that fat away, and keep your exercise time down to a minimum is high intensity training. Performing shorter high intensity workouts, is great for burning fat and will increase your metabolic rate.

If you follow these two methods, you will soon break through that weight loss plateau and be well on the way to the slim body you desire!
