8

    File Setup

    • 1). Choose "File" and "Open," select the jewelry photograph you want to enhance and click "Open."

    • 2). Click-and-drag the "Background" layer to the "New Layer" icon to duplicate the image.

    • 3). Go to "File," "Save As" and save your file under a new name.

    Paintbrush

    • 1). Click the "New Layer" icon, then change the new layer's blending mode from "Normal" to "Overlay."

    • 2). Click on the "Paintbrush" icon in the "Tools" panel.

    • 3). Go to the "Options" bar and choose a soft round brush. Change the size of the brush to match the size of the sparkle you want on the jewelry.

    • 4). Press "D" on the keyboard to change the colors to default black and white, then press "X" to make white the foreground color.

    • 5). Click within the image to add sparkles. Follow the natural lighting in the photograph; use the "paintbrush" to augment existing highlights.

    • 6). Choose "Filter," "Blur" and "Gaussian Blur." Adjust the blur "Radius" slider to an amount that softens the edges of the highlights you painted. Click "OK" when you finish fine-tuning the setting.

    • 7). Click on the layer's opacity and decrease the setting if the highlights appear too bright.

    Lens Flare Filter

    • 1). Click on the duplicate "Background" layer you created to select it.

    • 2). Go to "Filter," "Render" and choose "Lens Flare."

    • 3). Modify the position of the "flare" by clicking within the preview window and moving it.

    • 4). Adjust the "Brightness" of the "Lens Flare" by shifting the slider's position.

    • 5). Choose a "Lens Type" for the filter. Each "Lens Type" produces a different reflection effect.

    • 6). Click "OK" to apply the filter to the image.

    • 7). Decrease the intensity of the filter by reducing the layer's opacity or changing its "Blending Mode" to reveal the unaltered "Background" layer.
