How to Install a Navigation System on an Escalade
- 1). Install the mount for the GPS in the Escalade. Some GPS brands include a variety of mounting methods, such as a suction cup mount. For this mount, moisten the suction cup, then position the mount in any location on the windshield. Slide the GPS into the mount's holder to secure it.
If your GPS came with an adhesive mount for the dashboard, remove the paper backing. Stick the mount on a clean, flat and dry surface, then secure the GPS in the mount. - 2). Charge the GPS by connecting it to the included charger, then inserting the other end of the charger into the Escalade's power adapter. Most GPS devices charge as you drive. Some devices can also charge by connecting to a computer's USB port or a wall power outlet.
- 3). Set your preferences on the GPS. Enter your home address, language and preferred measurement units: either miles or kilometers. You may also choose the voice that reads directions and street names to you on certain GPS models.
- 4). Take the GPS to an area free of tall trees, buildings or other interference. Allow up to five minutes for the GPS to acquire its first satellite signal. A good signal is usually indicated by a series of colored bars on the screen. When a signal is acquired, you may use your GPS.
