How to Bridge a DSL Modem
- 1). Connect your DSL modem to your computer by attaching the Ethernet cable from the DSL modem's Ethernet port to the Ethernet port on your computer. Power on the modem.
- 2). Access the modem's configuration page by typing in the modem's local-access Internet protocol into the address bar of an Internet browser. If you do not know the local-access IP, it may be printed on a sticker on the underside of the modem. Contact your DSL provider's technical support department if you are unable to determine the modem's local-access IP on your own.
- 3). Bridge the modem by changing the connection setting from "PPPoE" to "Bridged" or "Bridging." The exact location and terminology of this option varies greatly among different makes and models of DSL modems. Look for a heading labeled "Connection type," "Login Setting" or something similar. Again, you can direct any questions as to how to access this option to your DSL provider's technical support department or the manufacturer of the modem.
