How to Use Firefox With a Proxy Server
- 1). Open Firefox by clicking "Start," "All Programs," "Mozilla Firefox" and "Mozilla Firefox."
- 2). Click the "Tools" menu at the top of the Firefox window and click "Options."
- 3). Click the "Advanced" icon at the top of the "Options" window.
- 4). Click the "Network" tab in the "Options" window.
- 5). Click the "Settings" button to the right of "Configure How Firefox Connects to the Internet" under the "Network" tab.
- 6). Attempt to auto-detect the current network's proxy settings by clicking "Auto-Detect Proxy Settings for This Network" in the "Connection Settings" window and clicking "OK."
- 7). Configure your proxy server settings automatically by clicking "Automatic Proxy Configuration URL," typing the URL into the box beneath it and clicking "OK." Your network or proxy server administrator must provide you with a URL to use this option.
- 8). Use the Windows system-wide proxy server settings by clicking "Use System Proxy Server Settings" and clicking "OK." Access the Windows proxy server settings by clicking "Start," typing "proxy" into the search box in the start menu, clicking "Configure Proxy Server" in the start menu's search results and clicking "LAN Settings" at the bottom of the "Internet Options" window that appears.

Configure Firefox to use its own proxy server by clicking "Manual Proxy Configuration," typing the proxy server's IP address or domain name into the "HTTP Proxy" box, typing the proxy server's port into the "Port" box to the right of "HTTP Proxy," clicking "Use this Proxy Server for all Protocols" and clicking "OK."

Authenticate yourself with the proxy, if required. Type the user name and password for the proxy server into the "User Name" and "Password" boxes when prompted and click "OK."
