Shower Bar Installation
- 1). Locate the studs in the bathroom wall using the stud finder. Use the level and pencil to mark a vertical line along the center of the stud. Decide where to install the shower bar relative to this vertical line. Place the shower bar on the center line and use the pencil to trace the circumference of the mounting brackets as a template.
- 2). Drill a 1/8-inch hole in the center of the drawn circle to verify the location of the stud. Then, drill a 2-inch hole using the hole saw. Measure the distance from the stud to the outer edge of the wall. Cut the threaded mounting shaft provided in the kit to length based on this measurement according to the manufacturer's directions.
- 3). Install the mounting shaft and bracket. Drill a pilot hole and screw the mounting shaft into the hole with the provided lag bolt and washer using the socket wrench. Apply a thin bead of silicone around the 2-inch hole and thread the mounting bracket onto the mounting shaft until it makes contact with the wall. Remove any excess silicone.
- 4). Install the shower bar on the mounting bracket temporarily. Use the level to ensure the bar is vertical and lines up with the pencil line. Draw a circle around the lower mounting bracket and repeat steps 1 to 3.
- 5). Install the shower bar. Hold the shower bar on the mounting brackets and use the pencil to mark the mounting holes. Drill the holes with a 5/16-inch drill bit. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to screw the shower bar onto the mounting brackets until they are hand tight. The use of power tools for this step is not recommended.
