The success of an organization depends on several factors - not just one, two or three. These include but are not limited to good image and reputation, strategic managerial planning, control, and efficient communication with the public. Public communication refers to how the company or organization relates and communicates with the public.

The role of an organization's public relations department is to form and enhance the image and reputation of the entity as far as the public is concerned. People who work under the PR department are called PR. They are the representatives of the company in the world outside.

In the ever changing and competitive world of business, every organization desires to take a stand and be identified by the public. Public relations come into the scene exerting the best efforts in improving the reputation of the organization by making use of media or communication tools.Public relations do its job in enhancing the image of the organization by utilizing several numbers of communication tools and the media itself. Public relation activities are at first intended to determine and measure the concept of the general public towards the organization. Consequently, this department of PR helps in forming of policies that will improve the overall organization.

The public is composed of entities and individuals who become potential buyers of the organization's products and services, and the role of media relations is to let all the public know of the existence of these products and services. No wonder, public relations department is present in almost every company. They are responsible in collecting public feedback that will help the company reflect on its function.

There are several numbers of functions that a PR department is responsible for. The PR department is tasked to take care of the government relations, community relations, employee relations, financial relations, crisis communication and many others.

The purpose of services and solutions activities is to eradicate the gap between the community and the organization. Public relations team work hard just to be able to enhance the image of the company in any given community. Crisis communications, on the other hand, is concerned about the financial information about the company in times of accidents. It is essential that the team provides information which is correct, reliable and significant.

PR is also responsible for the giving of updates to the pubic in case calamities and emergencies arise. The financial relations, however, is working on the financial information that is significant to the stakeholders of the company as well as to its investors. Indeed, all the activities which the department of PR engage are for the purpose of improving the image of the organization which will eventually result to its ultimate success.
