Is Stopping Panic Attacks too Difficult?

52
Do you feel yourself constant on the edge? Is your heart beating so fast that it feels like it is going to pop out of your rib cage? Is your stomach often queasy that all you want to is go to the bathroom? If you are feeling all of these, then, it is highly likely that you have developed panic disorder.
Panic disorder is a psychological illness where you experience heightened sensations either because of a trigger, which is usually stress, or for no apparent reason at all.
It can last for a few minutes or even longer depending on the person who suffers from panic attacks.
There are many ways that you can use in stopping panic attacks.
But I would discuss three of them here.
The first one is medication.
If you go to a psychiatrist, he would based your diagnosis through your feedback as well as his observation on how you present yourself to him.
Once the diagnosis is in, he would immediately prescribe you with traditional medicinal drugs that may help you cope with panic disorder.
But the problem with medication is that it only alleviates the symptoms.
Furthermore, these drugs causes side effects that are harmful to your body and at the same time, you can develop a dependence on these drugs that it would be hard for you to stop using them.
The second one is deep breathing exercise that you may use whenever you feel an onset of a panic attack.
For example, if you are on a bus and suddenly, you feel that your heart is racing a mile a minute, your hands are getting cold and clammy and you feel very nervous.
You can sit comfortably on the chair, close your eyes and breathe in and out.
You can do this as long as you like until you feel that the anxiety in you has dissipated from you completely.
Though this may work, the problem with deep breathing exercises is that it takes a lot of willpower and determination for it to work for you.
If you do not have these, then, obviously, it would not be effective for you to use this technique.
The final technique that you can use in stopping panic attacks and the most effective one of all is to assess the way you see and feel about yourself.
Examine the cause of your anxieties and fears and validate if they are real or not.
If they are valid, then, you must address them in a healthy and proper manner that would help you eliminate them.
If they are not true, then, let go of them as it does not make sense for you to take hold of them.
In addition, if you are able to change the way you see and feel about yourself, then, it would be sure that you would be able to overcome panic attacks.
