How to Troubleshoot an Epson 880
- 1). Check the printer's control panel to see what lights are illuminated or flashing. If the printer does not have any lights illuminated or flashing, check the power cord to make sure it is plugged into the back of the printer and the electrical outlet firmly. Remove the power cord from any surge protectors or backup batteries and plug the cord directly into an electrical outlet.
- 2). Restock the printer's input paper tray with fresh paper if the "Load/Eject" light is red. Press the "Load/Eject" button once after you loaded the paper in the tray and wait for the printer to continue printing.
- 3). Press the "Load/Eject" button on the printer if the light next to it is flashing, indicating the printer has a paper jam. Open the printer's cover and pull out any stuck paper that is left inside, including small pieces stuck to the rollers. Remove the paper from the input tray and remove any sheets that are damaged, and then replace the paper and press the "Load/Eject" button once more.
- 4). Replace the ink cartridges if the lights next to the single black droplet or the three colored droplets are illuminated. A blinking light indicates the ink is low and the cartridge needs to be replaced soon.
- 5). Open the printer's cover and unplug the power cord if the "Power" and "Load/Eject" lights are flashing and the ink lights are both illuminated. Remove any paper or other objects that keep the cartridge carriage from moving freely. If you find no obstructions, remove the ink cartridges and peel off the protective tape from the nozzle area, and then replace the cartridges.
- 6). Take the printer to a repair shop if all of the lights on the control panel begin to flash, indicating an unknown error has occurred.
