How to Make a Glass Cloche From a Jar

12
    • 1). Measure the circumference of the rim of the jar using a measuring tape. Add 1/2 inch. Measure the height of the rim. This is the part of the rim with the molded thread marks. Choose a ribbon with a width as close to the rim's height as possible. Cut the ribbon the length of the rim's circumference.

    • 2). Apply craft glue around the rim of the jar. Wrap the ribbon around the rim; glue the overlapping ends to secure. Apply craft glue to the back of a decorative button or charm. Place the button or charm over the seam of the ribbon's overlap. Allow the glue to dry.

    • 3). Stand the jar upside down on your work surface. The bottom of the jar is now the top of the glass cloche.

    • 4). Apply household cement to the bottom of a glass or ceramic figurine. Household cement will allow the figurine to be used as a handle. The width of the figurine's bottom must fit within the diameter of the cloche's top, but the height can be as tall as you desire. Center the figurine on the flat surface of the cloche's top. Allow the cement to dry.

    • 5). Measure the diameter of the opening on the bottom of the cloche. Choose a pedestal candleholder, saucer or plate that is larger than the bottom of the cloche.

    • 6). Arrange the items you want to display on the center of the candleholder or plate. The items need to fit within the bottom opening of the jar and must be shorter than the height of the jar. For a permanent display, use craft glue to secure the items.

    • 7). Place the glass cloche over the display.
