About.com Rating

Need I say more? If you're a fan of Margaret Cho, you're going to love this tidy film. Margaret Cho plays Celeste, a rebel girl in the 80s who is picked on by the popular kids. Fast forward to present day and she's finally ready for some pay-back.

Bam Bam & Celeste

Bam Bam (Bruce Daniels) is Celeste's gay best friend. The two of them wake up one day and realize they've never left their small midwest hometown.

To make matters worse, their high school nemesis are successful hair stylists in NYC featured on the reality TV show "Trading Faces."

After a visit to a fortune teller played by the hilarious Kathy Najimy (Sister Act), Bam Bam and Celeste pack up their decked out pink Honda Civic and head to NYC for a chance to be contestants on Trading Faces.

Lots of Laughs - Lots of Guest Stars

A fun road-trip movie, Bam Bam and Celeste meet up with the expected homophobic harassers in South Bend, only to be rescued by the town dyke, played by the flawless Jane Lynch (The L Word, Best in Show) in a Daniel Boon fur hat.

Wilson Cruz (My so Called Life, Noah's Arc) also makes an appearance as a small town motel attendant and love interest of Bam Bam's.

Alan Cummings (The L Word, X-Men) plays a harried studio assistant who takes a liking to Celeste.

Feel Good and Laugh Your A@@ off!

I needed a laugh when I watched this movie and laugh I did! If you're a fan of Cho's "Mommy" character, then you won't be disappointed, as Mommy (played by Margaret Cho) delivers some funny lines before she comes to save the day.

There's great lesbian humor, like the dyke who won't part with her mullet. Great visual humor, like Celeste's pink fur lined Honda and even some slap-stick.

If you can keep in mind that this is a low-budget film and ignore little things like the actors playing high school kids are in their 30s, then you will enjoy this campy gay-centric film.
