How to Make Snares and Traps
- 1). Make a small loop in one end of the wire, and then pass the other end of the wire through this loop, forming a very easily tightened slipknot that will humanely and quickly incapacitate the trapped animal. Make four of these.
- 2). Secure the end of each snare to your stick at one-foot intervals, starting at the top and working your way down.
- 3). Prop your stick up against the tree, and screw the top of the stick into the side of the tree. Now when squirrels or other small animals scramble up the tree, they will get tangled in one of your snares, fall from the tree and quickly strangle to death.
- 1). Clear a small spot in the grass, and turn the basket over so its open top is facing towards the ground.
- 2). Lift the edge of the basket up, and rest it on top of the stick. Tie your length of string to the stick, and secure your bait on the stick with the string.
- 3). Spread bait around the area, and then have a line of it leading into the basket. When an animal starts to follow the bait, they will try to pull the bait from the stick. The stick will become dislodged, causing the basket to fall to the ground, trapping the animals inside.
