How to Make Kiln-Formed Watch Bands
- 1). Put the clay on a sturdy surface. Knead it to remove air.
- 2). Roll the clay into a long snake.
- 3). Flatten the snake with a rolling pin, pen or your palm.
- 4). Measure your wrist against the clay by placing your wrist on the left end of the strip and rotating your hand to the right. Cut the clay on the right side to fit your wrist.
- 5). Curl the strip to form a closed loop.
- 6). Remove 1 inch of clay from the loop at opposite ends; the remaining clay will form two C's facing inward.
- 7). Poke a hole in either end of both strips. Leave at least 1/3-inch between the hole and the edge of the strips.
- 8). Bend the strips to ensure they are still forming C's and place in the kiln.
- 9). Fire as directed by clay manufacturer. Apply glaze if desired.

Knot thread to the needle. Insert the thread into the strip and up through the watch face. Repeat and tie off the string. Stitch the other strip to the opposite side of the watch face so that there is one strip on either side of the watch. - 11
Add the clasp pieces to the free ends of the strips.
