Lesbian Circuit Parties and National Lesbian Events
A circuit party is usually a big dance party with other events happening in conjunction with it. Gay men started circuit parties and still hold some of the biggest events, but lesbians have a few of their own to brag about. The National Women's Music Festival has been going on as long as Michigan, but it doesn't get as much recognition or notoriety. It takes place as different college campuses in the Midwest--in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. Lesbians descend on these college towns during summer break and stay in the dorms or sometimes hotels, enjoying music, comedy, entertainment and nightly dances, coffeehouses and author readings. •Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend
Known as the "Lesbian Spring Break," The Dinah, Dinah Shore Weekend is a big blow-out in the desert of Palm Springs. Tens of thousands of lesbians descend on this tiny desert town to drink, dance, drink by the pool, flirt, hook up and watch some pretty amazing entertainment. The dances are in big ballrooms packed with sharply dressed women getting down with some of the best DJs in the country. The pool parties are notorious afternoons of music, mingling, drinking and dancing under the hot desert sun. The entertainment is top-notch. Aqua Girl in South Florida is a unique party because off of the proceeds benefit lesbian, bisexual, and transgender health and wellness causes. Every year in May, thousands of women travel to Miami to take part in dance parties, cocktail receptions, pool parties and and other fun events at some of Miami's top clubs and venues. WinterPride is Whistler is a LGBT ski week that has a circuit party feel. Skiing during the day, dancing and partying during the night. Of all the gay ski weeks WinterPride does the best job of catering to and attracting lesbians.
