Flying - Then And Now
It is official; the airline industry has finally gone completely crazy. Remember when flying was an event, an exciting part of the trip that was almost more exciting than the vacation itself? That was when it was new and fresh and travelers weren't so jaded with all the hassles that have become more and more unbearable over the years.
Trying to get all dressed in your favorite traveling outfits and taking a taxi to the airline and taking a moment to see out the glass with a thrilling and exciting feeling inside that was difficult to contain. Then the person by you lights up a cigarette and you have to whiff the smoke and choke throughout your in flight meal the best way you can. So, a few things are better than what they were, like not having to go through a flight with a bunch of smokers, but no in flight food just seems like so much to take. Were they great? No, they were not any good, but at least they were there.
It was a part of the flight that you could get excited about and poke fun at with the other passengers and it defused the monotony of the flight. Now you won't even get a flight meal anymore. I wonder if it will still be attainable in first class. If you set up your own flight, you can have a private chef if you want. Imagine flying to your destination in a plane filled with only your handpicked friends and eating a gourmet meal in the sky at your own pace.
It could be just like that if you want it to and it more than likely makes more sense than you thought. Business or pleasure, piloting a huge group of folks to a single destination can be hard and costly. Think of being able to have anybody depart and arrive at the same time. Just how much better could that flight seem?
And there are so fewer things to think about like lost stuff or annoying passengers and screaming babies, unless they are your screaming babies. At least you have control over what you do about it. You can move around to calm the baby or lay it down for a nap or warm a bottle up in the kitchen. You don't have to fret about a mean flight attendant telling you to silence yourself because the other passengers are whining.
