Christian Interpretations of Dreams

10
When dealing with vivid and seemingly very realistic dreams, some people rely on a Christian interpretation of dreams as a more appropriate approach .
We're going to skip Freud and Jung for now; because the Christian interpretation of dreams is based on the logic of the Holy Bible itself.
Listening to our dreams One of the key features of dreams is that they are always associated with who we are and what we are.
We do not dream for other people or vice-versa.
Dreams are always particular to our current situation and our current mindset.
The Christian approach to dreams has its logical counterpart in certain passages in the Bible.
For example, in the passage Numbers, chapter 12, verse 6, it is said that God would manifest and communicate with man through dreams.
Apart from full-blown dreams, visions in waking time are also a good source of messages from God.
Historically, the key individuals and personalities that are found in the Holy Bible were contacted by God through dreams; usually the dreams spoke of impending personal danger and catastrophes that would afflict whole cities, towns, communities and peoples.
As such, we should also take dreams as a way for God to warn us of impending personal danger.
Usually, dreams point us to change certain things about ourselves.
If you are engaged in destructive behavior, for example, a vivid dream might be warning you that harm or injury will befall you if you do not change.
As such, listening to our dreams and interpreting them is not really a form of divination, where parts of the future are gleaned supernaturally.
That is of course, against the general code of Christianity, because divination and other activities are often associated with non-Christian groups and sects.
As such, don't use other methods if you want to stay true to the code of values imposed/reinforced by the Christian faith.
Hearing God's words through dreams One of the key traits of the Christian faith is the importance of guidance and counselling.
The Church and the instruments of the Church (ordained priests, pastors, missionaries, lay people) are all equipped to provide different levels of guidance to the community they serve.
However, there may be times that God would communicate to the faithful through their dreams, directly.
When something vital is about to happen, or when something dangerous might occur, the guidance that comes in signs and symbols through dreams might be our Lord himself lending some answers to our troubled minds.
All you have to do is to remember the dreams, interpret it well and live by the changes required if the guidance you found is sound.
Historically, God communicated more than just guidance to the faithful through dreams.
Sometimes, he held palaver with important figures like Abraham when they were unconscious and are in the realm of sleep.
This was a way to show the supernatural existence of God himself; he manifests not directly through flesh and blood or other material things, but through spirit and dreams.
