How to Open a Small 300-Gallon Pool
- 1). Remove any water and debris from the top of the pool cover.
- 2). Remove the cover, clean it using a sponge with a mixture of water and dish soap, rinse, and allow to dry.
- 3). Add water until the level is just about to the top or according to the instructions.
- 4). Clean the floors and walls with a pool brush and remove any debris with a leaf skimmer. Vacuum any debris that has sunk to the bottom of the pool.
- 5). Attach the pump and filter hoses to the pool and power on the pump. Allow the water to circulate for about four to six hours.
- 6). Add the initial dose of algaecide, and allow the water to circulate for about one hour.
- 7). Shock the pool (add extra chlorine) to bring the chlorine levels to about 3 to 4 ppm and allow the water to circulate for one hour.
- 8). Check the chlorine levels and add more shock if needed to keep the levels above 1 ppm. Allow the water to circulate for at least one hour after each dose of chemical.
- 9). Test the water to check the pH level. Add pH up or pH down if needed.
- 10
Add the alkalinity increase to the water if needed. - 11
Balance the water to achieve a pH of between 7.2 and 7.6, a chlorine level between 1 and 3 ppm, and total alkalinity between 80 and 120 ppm. To balance, test the water and add the correct chemical to raise or lower the reading. Allow the water to circulate for about one hour and re-test.
