How to Make a Kids' Table for Parties
- 1). Make place cards for each spot at the table so the kids feel like they have their own special place.
- 2). Provide crayons and use white butcher paper for a tablecloth or paper place mats with games and coloring pages printed on them. Kids can keep busy coloring while the adults talk.
- 3). Use colorful paper plates and plastic utensils to make the table brighter, more enticing and more kid-friendly and to reduce the dish-washing burden after the party.
- 4). Place a small box or bag with party favors at each place setting. Give the kids small toys that will keep them entertained at the table but won't interfere with eating. Try kaleidoscopes, Chinese finger traps or action figures. Avoid putting candy in the favor bags because it will likely interfere with the meal and stay away from messy things like finger paint or modeling compound.
- 5). Make a kid-friendly, edible centerpiece, such as a bouquet of fruit skewers with yogurt dipping sauce. This gives kids something fun to snack on while waiting for the meal to be served and makes the table more festive.
