How to Get a Sony Xplod Stereo Out of the Dash Without the Removal Keys
- 1). Remove the faceplate and any fascia from the dash surrounding the stereo.
- 2). Remove the bezel from around the Xplod. It is held on by small plastic clips. There is usually no bezel when the stereo is installed in a car where it sits flush with the dash. The stereo is surrounded by a metal bracket that slides inside the compartment. You will see a small notch on the left and right side where the removal keys fit.
- 3). Slide the blades into the notches and carefully push them back until you feel the projections. Lift the blades up and hook the serrations over the projections, then pull back. You may have to repeat the process several times before the Xplod comes out far enough to get a grip on it.
- 4). Slide a pair of flat tip screwdrivers into the notches, and hook them between the plastic plate and the metal body of the stereo. Pull the Xplod forward.
