How to Melt Old Candles to Make New Candles
- 1). Hold an old, used candle over a bowl.
- 2). Cut the candle into 1/2-inch pieces using a paring knife, dropping the pieces into the bowl.
- 3). Pour the wax pieces into a large tin can.
- 4). Place the tin can into the upper portion of a double boiler, and fill the bottom portion with water.
- 5). Heat the double boiler until the beeswax melts.
- 6). Pour one tbsp. of essential oil into the can. Stir the mixture with a spoon until the oil and the wax are combined completely.
- 7). Cut a candle wick to measure 20 inches in length.
- 8). Dip both ends of the wick eight inches into the scented wax.
- 9). Pull the wicks out after a couple seconds, then allow the wax to cool on the wick for at least one minute.

Continue dipping and cooling the candle wick until the candles are as thick as you want them to be. - 11
Allow the candles to cool completely, then trim the wicks on each candle to a half inch.
