How to Keep the Ears of a Pug Up
- 1). Fold the side of the pug's ear inward so that the outer left and right sides meet with the ear standing upright. The ear should resemble a tube, tall and narrow.
- 2). Cut between 3 and 4 inches of transpore tape. Other types of tape are usable as alternatives; though try to use a surgical or medical tape, as it will be less irritating for the dog. The tape you choose should be thin, flexible and non-toxic.
- 3). Wrap the tape completely around the folded ear several times. Add additional tape as necessary to create a firm hold. Repeat this process for both ears.
- 4). Remove the tape after a week. Carefully snip the tape open where the sides of the ear meet, then allow the tape to come off naturally. Forcefully removing the tape can cause damage to the hair on the ear.
