Huskies can be a hand full for many owners here are some tips to get you on track.
Training 101: - Huskies are very athletic and active dogs, exercise your husky before you commence training.
This will leave your husky more calm and willing.
- Train in short periods of time, not more than 10min at a time.
You will lose the Huskies attention if you train for extended periods of time.
- When scolding your husky, never scold him AFTER he has done something wrong.
Only scold him when you catch him in the act.
- It's important for your husky to know it's name so when training always call your dogs name first ex) Snoopy , come here vice come here, Snoopy.
If you don't use this format you run the risk of teaching words incorrectly.
- Never call your husky to scold him ex) Come Here! Snoopy! He will establish the word "come here" with being yelled at.
This is the same reason you want to use the name then action format.
- Train in a low distraction environment so your husky doesn't get distracted.
- Be consistent don't let your dog come in the bedroom one day then yell at him for coming in another day.
- Huskies are notorious for running away, never let him off leash unless in a well contained area.
- The key is being consistent train everyday.
