Before you make the decision to purchase a used car, you should verify that there were no recalls for the model the year it was manufactured. Many people make the mistake of buying what appears to be a car in good condition, only to find out that what they bought was actually a lemon. - In October 2002, November 2003 and June 2006, the 2001 Ford Crown Victoria was recalled due to issues with the car's fuel system. In July 2001 seatbelt issues caused the car to be recalled. The buckle was not fully latching in many of the cars. In December of 2001 the frontal air bags were not functioning properly, which caused the car to be recalled.
- In December of 2007, the 2001 Ford Excursion was recalled due to risks of the engine stalling. In July of 2001 issues with the assembly of the seat buckle caused the car to be recalled. In March of 2001 the car was recalled due to frontal air bag issues. In August of 2006, then again in October of 2009, the car was recalled due to the vehicle speed control putting the car at risk for overheating. In August of 2001, the car was recalled due to problems with the windshield wiper.
- In April and March of 2007 there was a recall due to issues with the service brakes, some makes of this car were leaking brake fluid during use. In December of 2003 there was a recall due to issues with the seatbelts, some of this model featured buckles that didn't completely latch. In November of 2000, the car was recalled because the windshield wiper was becoming unattached to the car. In April 2000, the car was recalled due to the vehicle speed control malfunctioning.
- In July of 2006 the Ford F-150 was recalled for exterior lighting that didn't meet the requirements by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. In May and August of 2006, as well as April and May of 2009, a similar recall was made, this one referencing just the headlights. In July 2001, they recalled this make due to seatbelt issues, the buckles were not fully latching. In March of 2001 there was a recall due to issues with the front air bag. In September 2005 there was a recall on all makes that featured speed control, due to risks of overheating.
- In May and July of 2006, as well as May of 2009, the 2001 Ford Ranger was recalled because the exterior lighting did not meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. In November of 2000, the cars made with a sheet molding hood were recalled because the hood striker was not latching properly. In August of 2007 and October of 2009 the car was recalled because the speed control was at risk for overheating.
