Amazing Milestones in the Artificial Diamond Technology

From the beginning of  history, the subject of precious stones have been surrounded by art, fascination, religion, mystery, and the timeless appreciation for beauty. Among all the precious gems, the diamond has by far exceeded even ruby in elegance, grace, and hardness. Scientists believe that the natural creation of diamonds took billions of years where carbon dioxide were  subjected to intense heat and geological pressure until it comes out from the bowels of the earth truly transformed. This amazing metamorphosis of the black-coloured carbon dioxide to the sparkling beauty that is the diamond took billions of years in the making. As such, the diamond is truly a great creation. That is why the diamond has become a symbol of perfection, timeless love, and pure emotion.

Yet the human being, in an equally amazing feat, was able to discover the secrets of diamond making, circumventing billions of years in able to create the first man-made diamonds in just a few days! The time has arrived for the new era of man-made diamonds. Yet from the time when the first artificial diamond was created, new unbelievable breakthroughs have been made.

Below is the process of the development and progress in the creation of man-made diamonds:

The first synthetic diamonds simulated is the natural process by which carbon dioxide was subjected to intense pressure and heat. This is what we call high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) technology wherein a machine squeezes on carbon dioxide while intense electricity was applied. After only a few days of this process, the first gem-like quality man-made diamond was created. This invention literally kicked off a new era of commercially produced diamonds. These diamonds are a lot cheaper and can actually imitate the beauty and elegance of natural diamonds. On closer inspection however, these diamonds are not as clear and pure as the real ones.

A breakthrough in diamond making that has created an almost perfect replica of real diamonds was done with the method called chemical vapour deposition. This process begins with a real diamond. A tiny diamond is bombarded with carbons under specialized conditions of heat, pressure and microwave beams so that this real diamond begins to grow in perfect sheets and angles almost overnight.

New milestones have now been reached with gemstone composite technology, wherein there is an actual molecular bonding of the diamond and the sapphire crystals.  This created a hybrid gemstone called the New Star Hybrid diamond simulant. This new hybrid gemstone is harder than moissante created by Israeli High-Temperature High Pressure fusion technology in a process called "FCVA-Ion Jet Beam- Diamond Seeding". The New Star Hybrid diamonds demonstrates the substantial, elemental and visual characteristics nearest to the 1-3 billion years old natural diamond. Among all the man-made diamonds to date, the New Star Hybrid diamond alone displays the clarity, brilliance and unparalleled elegance of real diamonds.

Coloured Diamonds.  Yet technology never stops. Now, artificial diamonds can come in different colours. Groundbreaking research has now made possible to put colour into diamonds so that they come in pleasing shades and hues.

Another mindboggling breakthrough in this field is the coming up of coloured diamonds. Now you can choose different hues and shades of diamonds that even Mother Nature was not able to accomplish in billions of years.
