Taking Care of and Preventing Allergies

9
It is that time of season again when all the dust and pollen breaks out and causes problems for allergy sufferers.
People with allergies have many annoying symptoms and problems.
Some of which include stuffy or runny nose, irritated red eyes, and severe congestion.
Luckily, there are a few things you can do to reduce the symptoms and not feel so bogged down and uncomfortable during this time of year.
If you have very mild and non-severe symptoms it is best to try some over-the-counter medications instead of going to the doctor and having to pay for expensive prescription allergy medicines.
There are a few items you can buy to deal with each problem specifically.
For instance, you can buy redness relief eyedrops and nose spray to relieve your nasal symptoms.
Be careful not to overuse or abuse the eyedrops or nasal sprays because you may become immune to their effectiveness over time.
Most allergies will cause more than just one symptom and there are medicines that would treat all allergies as well.
Claritin and Zyrtec are two pills that can treat your allergy symptoms for the entire day.
Of course you'll have to pay a little bit more for these but for many people they seem to dry them up enough to substantially reduce the symptoms associated with their allergies.
If you have any questions about any of the over-the-counter medications, make sure you ask the pharmacist before you buy.
You need to be cautious and make sure that any of these drugs are not harmful if they interact with any other medications that you are currently on.
If your symptoms are more severe and the over-the-counter medications simply do not work then you may need to schedule an appointment and see a doctor to get their advice on how to treat your allergy symptoms.
Many times they will prescribe medications that will deal with your symptoms directly which over-the-counter medications may not be able to accomplish.
The best form of allergy treatment is of course prevention.
If you know that you will have an allergic reaction to something, do your best to stay away from it.
You may want someone else to mow your lawn and do the yard work for you so you are not in an environment that triggers your allergies.
Allergy season can take up half or most of the year and those that suffer from allergies need to be prepared when it occurs.
Some children will outgrow their allergies and get better over time while others won't have allergy symptoms until later on in their life.
If you suffer from allergies talk to a doctor about what you need to do so you don't suffer each and every year.
