Preparing the Printer

• 1). Plug your Epson C86 into your computer using a USB cable. The large, square end is plugged into the printer, and the flatter rectangular end is plugged into the computer.
  
  
• 2). Plug the power cable into your printer. Plug the power cable into a wall socket.
  
  
• 3). Turn on the printer by pressing the power button. Wait until the printer is finished making noise and is idle before proceeding.
  
  

Printing Your Document

• 1). Open your document in a text editing program, such as Microsoft Word.
  
  
• 2). Under File, find the "Print" button and click it. A dialogue box comes up, allowing you to adjust the settings for the printer.
  
  
• 3). Click the "Properties" box in the upper right corner. Another dialogue box appears.
  
  
• 4). Locate and click the "Use Black Ink Only" box in the dialogue box.
  
  
• 5). Click OK to accept your new settings. This returns you to the first dialogue box. Click the print button to send your document to the printer.
