How to Make Your Own Motorcycle Cables
- 1). Cut the wire into two 6-foot sections with the cable cutters. Lay the sections side by side and zip-tie them together securely. Leave the last foot on each end untied.
- 2). Strip the insulation with a razor-knife off the last inch on each of the four wire ends. Insert a wire into the red electrical connection clamp in the terminal end. Crimp the electrical connection securely with the terminal crimper.
- 3). Clamp the mechanical connection tabs of the terminal onto the insulation securely with the pliers. Install the other red clamp on the end of the same cable. Repeat this process on the other cable with the black terminal ends. Tug firmly on each terminal to insure that they are securely clamped.
- 4). Coat each electrical connection well with liquid electrical tape. Brush the tape on all exposed cable and the electrical terminal crimps to completely isolate the wires and connections from the atmosphere and water.
