For any marriage to work, there has to be a strong foundation on which the partners can build a relationship.
The relationship is built over years, and experience adds something to the foundation.
One reason for increasing number of divorces can be women empowerment as they are now getting higher education, and higher salaries.
Women have become very independent and have the liberty to choose the man they want to stay with.
Divorce was once considered a taboo, but it has become an easy solution for couples having problems in their married life.
Even for the slightest reason, arguments, or tensions, people are willing to go separate ways.
These days, more and more women are living alone and are not dependent on anyone.
Marriage is based on mutual trust, and when, a partner breaks that trust by getting involved in extra-marital affair it leads to irreparable damage to the relationship.
Infidelity causes resentment and anger, and cheated spouse feels that divorce is the only possible way out.
Some people have the habit of philandering, which leads to infidelity and causes problems in married life.
And in some cases, both the husband and wife are discontented, and opt for the divorce by choice.
The conflict with a father or mother in law creates problems between husband and wife, and if it goes out of control, it can also lead to divorce.
The divorce rate is higher where both males and females are working, and ego clashes are common among educated working couples.
In case of poor families, husband usually files the divorce first, and then wife goes for maintenance case.
Intellectual incompatibility leads to misunderstandings, and intelligent partner feels frustrated, making life miserable for everyone.
Marriage brings many responsibilities and if partners are not able to devote much time with each other it starts deteriorating the relationship, resulting in divorce.
Unless people are highly adaptive in nature, there is going to be clash in the cultural values which can lead to divorce after some time in marriage.
Mid-life crisis, addiction to drugs and alcohol, physical or emotional abuse, family strains and workaholism are other common causes of divorce.
Physical, emotional and sexual abuse are not uncommon, and person who loves himself or herself will not tolerate such abuses, and get a divorce.
All marriages have conflict and issues and one point or another.
Most of this disputes can be resolved if the lines of communication are open and there is still love and respect for one another.
Unfortunately, egos sometimes get in the way of a resolution.
