A Simple Guide To Choose A Dog

26
Coming home to a dog might sound a little derogatory at first but ask any dog owner and he'll tell you that there is nothing that feels greater than being welcomed by a dog, for it is the most enthusiastic welcomers among all creatures including human beings.
Ring the bell and here it comes running, leaping, panting and jumping around like a rubber ball absolutely delighted at the very sight of yours.
Seeing someone feel so happy at your sight makes you feel wonderful about yourself.
Many of us have always wanted to have a dog but always found ourselves at a loss when it came to deciding which breed.
Now, on top of it you happen to be a lover of the pure breed.
That's actually another one of your problems, for there are loads of breeds for you to choose from and they have myriad different characteristics.
You choose a wrong breed and you'll end up saddening yourself and the animal both.
For instance, if you are a city dude with a family with young kids living in a three bedroom flat in the heart of the city, and you get a doberman yourself.
Man, you got big trouble there as these are very energetic, athletic and not particularly affectionate dogs.
Some of them are good with kids, but there are no guarantees.
Dog experts constantly advise people not to leave a doberman alone with a kid because kids tend to play with dogs and dobermans are not among the tolerant type.
Besides, they need space to play around, which is a rare luxury in a modern urban city.
Therefore, a doberman for you is not a good idea.
So choose with caution.
Here are some basic guidelines to help you choose the best pet dog for yourself.
1.
You may go for herding dogs only if you live on a ranch for they are great guard dogs but need space to move around.
2.
Hounds are considered to be very loyal and come in different shapes and sizes.
They are good learners and can understand your command and follow it verbatim.
They are good dogs and have a very keen sense of smell having been bred as hunting dogs.
3.
Then there are sporting dogs which are energetic and athletic and need plenty of space to play and exercise.
4.
Toy dogs are good for being playful toys.
These are small dogs like Poodles and Chihuahuas.
They are good to cuddle and hold and are ideal small home dogs.
They of course don't make great guard dogs but are reasonable good warning dogs.
So take your pick from the long list.
Just remember that the animal needs to be cared for, and doubtlessly he'll return the care in double.
