How to Hand Stamp a Cuff Bracelet
- 1). Organize your work area and tools. Use appropriate tools for the cuff - for leather, metal or ceramic. Find the stamps you want to use on the cuff bracelet and become familiar with them. Practice making the stamp on a scrap item to get an idea of how the stamp will look on your cuff, and to also get a feel for how you will make the stamp on your bracelet. Wear safety glasses and gloves.
- 2). Grasp the stamp you want to use with your left hand (for right handed, vice versa for left handed individuals), holding it between your thumb and index finger, placing it on the cuff bracelet. Make certain the stamp is facing the right way, so that it does not produce an upside-down or sideways image.
- 3). Hold the stamp firm and straight, in the place you want the stamp imprinted. Make sure the stamp's head is directly aligned with the surface of the bracelet. If the stamp is crooked or is hit more from one side, the stamp will not produce the image you want.
- 4). Pick up the hammer with your other hand and strike the stamp (for clay, press the stamp using your hand). Hit the stamp firmly. Several strikes may be necessary to get the full imprint you want on the cuff bracelet. If this is the case, be sure to align the head of the stamp exactly in the same spot as the previous mark so the stamp does not get warped. Repeat for additional stamps, as desired.
